I am determined to ensure as many rural villages in the constituency as possible are connected with superfast broadband. Maria Miller is due to make an announcement on 9 October about greater funding in this area and I look forward to hearing what her announcement entails.
February 2014 - I have heard from Stuart Bannerman Campbell of Hertfordshire County Council that there is an announcement due about the allocation of further monies for broadband and I am continuing to press for more investment locally.
December 2014 - The pdf file below is a response that I recieved on 1st December from Stuart Bannerman Campbell to a written parliamentary question that I tabled about rural superfast broadband.
February 2015 - I have recieved a letter from Stuart Bannerman Campbell of Hertfordshire County Council concerning superfast broadband in Buntingford. It is attached below.
March 2015 - I am arranging a meeting with Hertfordshire County Council's Stuart Bannerman Campbell to press for speedier rollout.
Please also see below the press releases which I have released about this matter.
December 2015 - The Government has made available a subsidised satellite broadband connection to all eligible premises which are unable to access a basic broadband of at least 2Mbps. This will enable all premises to gain access to at least a functional level of broadband.
More information can be found here: http://www.connectedcounties.org/basic-broadband-satellite-scheme.
January 2016 – I am glad that over 1,600 of the premises in North East Hertfordshire that need publicly-supported superfast broadband have now been covered, with another 8,700 due by July 2018, but this number remains far too low.
I recently met with BT in Barley to discuss rollout in the area and press for faster action. I am writing to Herts County Council to ask about rollout in the Ashwell and Hinxworth area.
