Oliver Heald MP for North East Hertfordshire has welcomed the publication of new careers guidance for schools. The revised statutory guidance “Careers guidance and inspiration in schools” will be effective from September 2014 and offers a framework for schools to ensure they provide motivational career advice for school leavers. The guidance emphasises the need to provide pupils with a clear view of all career options open to them including apprenticeships. It also encourages schools to engage with local employers to support young people in the transition from education to employment.
Commenting Oliver Heald said “career support is absolutely critical for school leavers. It is important that pupils are made aware of all possible avenues as they choose their career path after leaving school and I am glad to hear that the Government has published this guidance.”
