Stansted Airport has launched its draft Sustainable Development Plan and Sir Oliver Heald is inviting people to respond to the consultation on it.
The airport’s draft plan looks at ways in which Stansted can grow to support the full capacity of its existing runway and whilst doing so examines the benefits and impacts that this will have both nationally and locally. When completed, the Plan will feed into the Airport Commission’s Final Report, due in 2015 which will make recommendations to the Government about the steps needed to ensure that existing airport capacity across the UK adequately meets demand.
The public consultation closes on 7 November and those who would like to find out more information about the draft plan can do so by visiting one of the public consultation events (details about which can be found here), or contribute to the consultation by emailing developmentplan@stanstedairport.com.
Commenting Sir Oliver said “Whilst Stansted makes an important contribution to national air passenger capacity and brings much needed revenue and employment to the area, many of us would want any growth to be sustainable. I was interested to read about what Stansted has planned and I encourage my constituents to respond to the consultation. Clearly, improved rail links should be a key part of the equation.”
