Sir Oliver Heald MP has welcomed news that crime is falling in North East Hertfordshire. Crime recorded by the police in the Hertfordshire Constabulary has fallen by 21% since 2010, and nationally by a fifth in the same period.
In England and Wales this means that in the last year, compared with the year before this Government came to power, there were:
· More than 2.3 million fewer crimes.
· 160,000 fewer homes burgled.
· 290,000 fewer vehicle crimes.
· 413,000 fewer violent crimes.
· 962,000 fewer incidents of criminal damages.
Sir Oliver Heald MP said, ‘These figures demonstrate the huge success that this government is having in making the streets of Britain safer with its sensible policing policies. An estimated 4.5 million hours of police time has been saved by reductions in red tape, unnecessary targets have been scrapped, the number of officers in front-line roles has been increased, and the police have been given the powers they need to protect the public. Thanks to these measures and the hard work of our local force, North East Hertfordshire is getting safer every year.’
