BREXIT - North East Hertfordshire MP presses the case for businesses in his constituency

This exchange took place between Sir Oliver Heald MP and Prime Minister, Theresa May, when she updated the House on negotiations to leave the European Union on 15 November:

Oliver Heald MP

The Prime Minister will be aware that Hertfordshire is fortunate enough to have major businesses in the pharma, aerospace and motor industries. Those businesses rely on just-in-time arrangements for the delivery of parts and have integrated manufacturing across Europe. Does she feel that the agreement she has put before us will be in the best interests of such businesses and all the jobs in Hertfordshire that rely on them?

Prime Minister

I do believe that that is the case. In developing this future relationship with the European Union, one of the key issues we have been considering is the need to ensure that trade across borders and those just-in-time supply chains can continue, because many jobs in constituencies around the country depend on that. I can give my Right Honourable and learned Friend that assurance.
