Sir Oliver Heald pushes for stronger neighbourhood rights in planning matters

MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald and MPs Nick Herbert, Sir Nicholas Soames, and Dr Liam Fox tabled amendments calling for Neighbourhood Plans to be given stronger force, in a debate in the House of Commons on the Housing and Planning Bill. The amendments would have allowed a neighbourhood right of appeal where a planning permission was granted in breach of the neighbourhood plan.

Sir Oliver Heald MP wears it pink in Westminster in aid of Breast Cancer Now

 Sir Oliver Heald, MP for North East Hertfordshire, has shown his support for women with breast cancer by joining fellow parliamentarians in dressing in pink, and encouraging his constituents to take part in Breast Cancer Now’s flagship fundraiser, ‘Wear It Pink’, on Friday 23rd October. Now in its 14th year, ‘Wear It Pink’ raises over £2 million each year for world-class research into breast cancer.

The House of Commons backs Governance Committee proposals

Yesterday, the House of Commons passed the House of Commons Commission Bill, which makes changes to the way in which Parliament is administered. The Bill will put the recommendations of the Governance Committee, on which Sir Oliver sat, into law.

Sir Oliver Heald MP welcomes Tax Break for Married Couples and Civil Partners

Sir Oliver Heald, MP for North East Hertfordshire, has welcomed the tax concession for married couples and civil partners which has been launched by the Government. This tax break will provide people in these two categories who earn less than £10,600 a year, a tax reduction of up to £212 in the 2015-16 tax year.
