MP pays tribute to work of CCG on Future of Royston Hospital

In a debate in the House of Commons on the NHS on Friday, Sir Oliver Heald praised the actions of Strategic Lead, Tom Dutton, of the Cambridge and Peterborough CCG in working with Councillors, Friends of Royston Hospital and the Royston Hospital Action Group, to develop options for the future of Royston Hospital. 

MP welcomes meeting with Roads Minister

Sir Oliver Heald, MP for North-East Hertfordshire, was delighted that in response to his Adjournment Debate on Friday, the Minister present, Robert Goodwill, praised Oliver's commitment to improving roads in Hertfordshire and confirmed that his senior colleague, Rt Hon. John Hayes MP, will meet Sir Oliver and other Hertfordshire MPs soon to discuss what can be done to improve the notorious logjams on the A1(M).

Sir Oliver Heald MP welcomes the news that wages are now rising faster than inflation

Sir Oliver Heald, MP for North-East Hertfordshire, has welcomed the news that average wages are now rising faster than inflation for the first time since the crash, according to the Office for National Statistics. Wages rose by 1.3% in the year to September, a higher rate than CPI inflation, which was at 1.2%. This means that the cost of living is now dropping, easing pressure on hard-working families.

Changes have been made so that from 1 April 2015, widows, widowers, and surviving civil partners of all members of the Armed Forces Pension Scheme will retain their pensions for life, even if they remarry. This will fulfil the Government’s ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

This will set out how much direct tax they pay and how that money is being spent by the Government. This will mean many hardworking taxpayers in North-East Hertfordshire will see exactly how their taxes are being used.
