Budding entrepreneurs and small business owners across the east of Hertfordshire are about to get their own new business start-up facility with £89,000 in support from East Herts Council.
Called “My Incubator,” it’s being built at the Hertford Regional College campus in Ware and provides aspiring business owners with a unique support service which is free for up to three months.
East Herts Council is providing £35,000 to help the scheme start up, as well as £18,000/year for the following three years.
The centre provides desk space, computers and a meeting room where entrepreneurs can develop their business, get advice from experts and meet clients.
Mike Carver, East Herts Council’s Executive member for planning policy and economic development, added: “We’re delighted to be investing in this scheme which offers a fantastic foundation to help new businesses take the first steps to success. Getting started in the business world can be tough and this could be just the start-up that’s needed.”
The new My Incubator is a result of a funding partnership between Wenta, Hertford Regional College, East Herts Council, Broxbourne Borough Council and the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
Wenta was founded in 1983 to encourage business start-ups and to support small businesses in south and west Hertfordshire and is independently funded.
The development, which will see the transformation of an unused building at the college, is due to open next month.
Wenta chief executive Chris Pichon said: “We are extremely proud to be launching our sixth My Incubator and to be moving into the east of Hertfordshire. My Incubator offers anyone with a sound business idea the support they need to live their dream of running their own successful business.”
