North East Herts MP Sir Oliver Heald joined other dignitaries, family, friends and the congregation of St John the Baptist Parish Church in Royston on Sunday morning for the first Eucharist celebrated by Revd Theresa Musiwacho. Theresa had been priested the previous day at St Alban’s Abbey. She has been in Royston for a year and has made a strong impression in the Parish. The celebration included a wonderful performance of a Shona hymn by members of the Zimbabwe Mothers’ Union. Revd Heidi Huntley also helped to preside and the sermon was given by Revd Emma Rothwell from Westminster College in Cambridge, where Theresa trained for the Ministry.
Commenting Sir Oliver said: “This was a wonderful and vibrant occasion full of enthusiasm and praise. It was a privilege to be part of Theresa’s first Eucharist.”
