North East Herts MP Oliver Heald joined the staff and pupils at Icknield Infants School in Letchworth where they were taking part in National Science Week.
Oliver was able to see the children being introduced to ""scary"" creatures such as a lizard, skunk and snake. He also met Hertfordshire SETPOINT's Mrs Robbins who was there to do the demonstrations of how forces act in a circus. Oliver was able to try spinning a weighted top, making a pipecleaner dog move with a magnet and trying to bounce a marble off a mini-trampoline into a cup.
Commenting Oliver said:
""I enjoyed meeting the staff and children - and even a real skunk and snake, who were very well behaved. The skunk did not smell. The demonstrations were really good. I would like to congratulate the school on this initiative, which is a great way of making science come to life. The children were very interested in the creatures and the demonstrations and it was good that so many parents and governors came in to help.""
