North Herts MP Oliver Heald has been pressing the NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Shadow Clinical Commissioning Group, which will be in charge of commissioning health services in Royston from April 2013, for extra diagnostics and services such as diabetes care in Royston for the future. This is important for the size of the new buildings proposed for the town. Oliver has received a reply from Dr Neil Modha, the GP in charge, which is attached.
Dr Modha explains that a multi-agency Project Group is deciding on the proposed services and includes representatives from all the existing NHS bodies, including Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, and of our local GPs. This group will be working out the commissioning intentions for financial year 2013/14.
Commenting Oliver said : “I am pressing for as many diagnostic and other services as possible to be sited in Royston. I am urging the Friends of Royston Hospital and RHAG to join in these representations, so that the Shadow Commissioning Group is aware of the strength of feeling in the town that health services must be retained and expanded. We want as many services as possible locally and the buildings needed for them”.
