North East Hertfordshire MP, Sir Oliver Heald met Transport Secretary Chris Grayling MP to press for action to avoid Watton-at-Stone and other residents on the Hertford Loop line having to endure a bus service from Stevenage after the new timetable comes in. Sir Oliver has previously met representatives of Govia and is to meet Network Rail. Sir Oliver pressed Chris Grayling to find a solution that does not involve a bus service for his constituents but enables them to use the railway.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said “It is unacceptable that 1000 passengers a day will be impacted by a bus service for an uncertain period of time. Chris Grayling has to sign off on the new timetable and I have asked him to find ways of tackling this problem. I will continue to press with Network Rail in the New Year.”
