NE Herts MP Oliver Heald visited the Icknield Quilters Show at Letchworth Free Church on Saturday. The Show included a wide range of examples of Quilts by Group members from “small houses” quilts inspired by an online demonstration by a leading American quilter, to traditional “fireside” quilts to dramatic modern examples and samplers. Oliver has visited the Show in past years, but the move to holding it at the Free Church in the middle of Letchworth led to a greatly increased number of supporters visiting. The Icknield Quilters have members from across North Hertfordshire.
The photo shows Oliver with Chair Sue Rainbow, who showed Oliver many special quilt details and features.
Commenting Oliver said: “ This was an impressive show and I loved seeing the wide range of quilts. The artistry and skill involved was tremendous and I liked seeing the “small houses” quilts, which involved great intricacy. The Show was a great tribute to the Group, which goes from strength to strength and gives its members a lot of enjoyment amid the hard sewing.
