North East Herts MP Oliver Heald, has welcomed the continuing fall in unemployment announced this week. The number of unemployed claimants in his Constituency of North East Hertfordshire last month was 1,354. This represents a rate of 2.8% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, 513th out of the 650 UK Constituencies. The number of claimants is 31 lower than in August 2012.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “I am delighted to see that unemployment continues to fall locally. This is a great testament to the drive and enthusiasm of local business and the high skill levels of our local workforce. I hope that this trend will continue. I am sure that the Government’s emphasis on training skills, apprenticeships and providing a strong business environment will also play their part.”
