North East Herts MP Oliver Heald has met residents campaigning against speeding motorists on the A120 at Standon. The protestors, known as STANDon A120 (Stop Traffic Accidents, Noise and Danger on A120) were able to point out numerous vehicles roaring through the village at well over the 30 mph speed limit. This is particularly dangerous, as the road is narrow and there are many pedestrians, including children, mothers with pushchairs and the elderly.
Oliver has immediately asked for a high level site meeting with Hertfordshire Highways.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “I was shocked by the speed of some motorists and lorries in the 30 mph zone. It was particularly surprising that even a coach was going through at very high speed. This is clearly an area where more enforcement activity is needed and further thought needs to be given to the road conditions. I will campaign for further road safety improvements at this dangerous spot.”
