Dear Sir,
A number of constituents have asked (Crow 25/1/13) how much NHS investment has come into our area. The answer is a significant amount. Both our local hospitals, Addenbrookes’ and Lister, have seen major capital projects with £98 million invested at Addenbrookes’ and £150 million committed at Lister. In addition there is direct NHS investment proposed in the Royston Health Centre and a private finance initiative for the proposed NHS/Hertfordshire County Council facility in London Road.
Another question was what the national NHS efficiency savings are being spent on: the answer is 400,000 more operations a year; 1 million more A and E visits and 3 million more out-patient visits.
The NHS budget is not being reduced, but the work is increasing.
Best wishes,
Oliver Heald QC MP
Member of Parliament for North East Hertfordshire
