Oliver Heald (North East Hertfordshire, Conservative)
I welcome the Leveson inquiry and agree very much with the Prime Minister that our focus should be on the innocent victims whom we have heard about recently, but he will be aware that there were concerns in the House that the hacking of telephones has impeded MPs in their work and interfered with freedom of expression, which is one of the most deeply felt and important aspects of our work. TheStandards and Privileges Committee produced a report-its 14th report-on this subject. Will the Prime Minister ensure that it is fed into the inquiry and fully considered?
David Cameron (Prime Minister; Witney, Conservative)
I will, of course, do that. This inquiry gives us an opportunity to look at some reports that a lot of work has gone into, but, sadly, that have gathered dust, rather than having been taken as seriously as perhaps they should have been.
