MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, is supporting Carers’ Week, which runs from 8-14 June. Carers’ Week is an annual campaign which aims to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges that carers face, and recognise the contribution that they make across the UK.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “One in eight people is a carer to an ill, disabled, or elderly friend or relative, and their contibution is enormous. They provide loving assistance to those in society who need help, and their work takes pressure off the public services. In recognition of their work, I have tabled a question in Parliament to the Government, asking them to ensure that our dedicated carers get the support they need. I commend anyone involved in giving care, and I wish Carers’ Week 2015 every success.”
