North East Hertfordshire MP Sir Oliver Heald is supporting the bid by Letchworth Rugby Club to the Heritage Foundation for funds to help pay for the refurbishment of the clubhouse. The grant application will be heard by the Heritage Foundation on 11 October. Sir Oliver visited the ground to see the refurbishment works on Saturday and also to speak at a lunch to celebrate Graham Walker of Letchworth Garden City becoming President of Hertfordshire’s RFU.
Commenting, Sir Oliver Heald said “The Club have raised money for the refurbishment works and they are excellent, providing a good room for Club events. I hope the Heritage Foundation will be able to help with the remaining funds due, which have currently been lent by members of the Club.
I also congratulate the Club on their recent run of success including winning the President’s Cup for Hertfordshire last year and Saturday’s well deserved victory over a fancied North Walsham side.”
