Sir Oliver Heald MP for North East Hertfordshire is urging his constituents to respond to Hertfordshire County Council’s consultation on libraries. This affects all libraries in North East Hertfordshire. The consultation looks at the proposals made in the Hertfordshire Library Service’s Inspiring Libraries Strategy which was adopted in July 2014 and opened on 29 September and runs until 7 December. Those responding to the consultation can do so by completing the consultation questionnaire.
The Strategy proposes that Hertfordshire’s libraries will be divided into three tiers (Tier 1 reserved for libraries in the biggest towns and providing the most services, to Tier 3 for libraries located in smaller communities and villages).
Commenting Sir Oliver said “I realise that libraries provide essential services for many within my constituency and I encourage all constituents to respond to the consultation. My message to constituents is that this affects you. This consultation has impacts for all the libraries in my constituency and constituents can check out the details in the Inspiring Libraries Strategy document. I want any changes to library services to take into account the needs of local service users as far as possible. That is why I am urging you to respond.”
