MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, is welcoming news that compensation on Great Northern and Thameslink routes will be paid for delays of over 15 minutes, as opposed to the current 30.
The new compensation scheme, which is to be rolled out over the next few months, will be structured as follows:
- 25% single fare for delays of 15-29 minutes
- 50% single fare for delays of 30 – 59 minutes
- 100% single fare for delays of 60-119 minutes
- 100% return fare for delays of over 120 minutes
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “When passengers are delayed, they deserve to be compensated. This new compensation for shorter delays will be especially useful for those delayed on shorter journeys. I commend the Government for putting this scheme into place.”
