MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, has welcomed North East Hertfordshire’s unemployment figures for March 2016, which have been released by the Office for National Statistics.
The total number of Jobseeker's Allowance claimants in the North East Hertfordshire constituency in March 2016 was 609. This is 99 lower than in March 2015, and 13 lower than the previous month.
Nationally, the employment rate remains at a record high of 74.1%, with pay up 2.2% over the year. There are a near record 751,000 job vacancies and the claimant count is at its lowest in over 40 years.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “I am glad to see that North East Hertfordshire’s economy remains strong. These figures demonstrate the importance of the Government’s economic strategy. I will continue to press for infrastructure improvements in Hertfordshire to keep our area an economic powerhouse.”
