Residents have contacted me regarding the felling of trees along Baldock Road. I immediately took this up with Redrow the developers and I received this response. I am now following this up with Hertfordshire County Council and North Hertfordshire District Council.
Dear Sir Oliver Heald
Thank you for your e mail regarding our Hedera Gardens development in Royston & I am sorry that it has become necessary for you to be involved in this matter.
As requested please see below a summary of information on this issue:
- Our reserved matters planning permission granted 18/10/19 did not indicate removal of these trees.
- As required under a condition of the outline planning permission detailed design of the 2 road accesses into the development (as agreed with Herts CC as part of a S278 agreement) was submitted & consequently discharged by N Herts DC 07/01/20 as indicated on this link https://documentportal.north-herts.gov.uk/GetDocList/Default.aspx?doc_class_code=DC&case_number=19/01915/DOC
- The removal of trees & surrounding vegetation were unfortunately required to install the accesses drainage features (swales) & it is our position that this was done with approval under point 2) above.
- We are working with NHDC & HCC in relation to mitigating the loss of trees along the development frontage & proposals for any replacement planting.
I hope that the above has provided a sufficient briefing on the key points on this matter but would of course be happy to answer on further queries you may have.
Regards
John Mann
