Good news from the Safer A507 Campaign

Good news this week from the Safer A507 Campaign with Herts County Council signalling a budget allocation of £120,000 to implement the plan for the A507 to be weight restricted.

MP takes up tool theft concerns

North East Herts MP, Sir Oliver Heald, has been approached by local residents in Royston about repeated theft of tools from vans in the town. Sir Oliver has immediately taken this up with Herts Police, together with Councillors Fiona Hill and Sarah Dingley.

MP welcomes energy efficiency grants for community buildings

North East Herts MP, Sir Oliver Heald, has welcomed the announcement from UK Power Networks that it has launched a new £300,000 fund to community organisations offering energy efficiency advice, and for energy efficiency improvements to community buildings.

Tool Thefts in Royston

I have been concerned about the spate of thefts of tools from vans in Royston  for some time. These are particularly despicable offences, as they deprive tradesmen of their means of earning a living. Equally, they are particularly difficult crimes to detect.

Finn's Law went through Committee

Finn’s Law went through Committee today and had unanimous cross party and Government support, including from the Herts MPs from Stevenage (Stephen McPartland) and Hemel Hempstead (Sir Mike Penning).

Brexit Agreement - last night's vote

I voted with the Government last night. It’s important to our area that there should be an agreed Brexit process, rather than a messy ‘no deal’ Brexit. Major employers in our area have approached me to support a Deal.

Important step forward for Finn's Law

The campaign to provide legal protection for police dogs and other service animals when attacked in the course of duty will take a big step forward tomorrow, 16 January, when Sir Oliver Heald’s Private Member’s Bill “The Animal Welfare (Service Animals) Bill” has its Committee stage at 10am.
