The Department for Transport is making available £30m for Local Bus Service Enhancements. Hertfordshire County Council is using £401,000 to increase the frequency of, and improve, Local Bus Services throughout Hertfordshire.
Bus services from Hitchin to Stotfold/Baldock will benefit from a revival of the Sunday service, that currently only operates on public holidays. Cuffley Station to Hertford will see an extension of the service to the Brookfield Centre, in addition to a greater frequency of services between Monday and Friday. And, the Hertford to Stevenage service has the potential for both improvements to existing services, and the reintroduction of the Hertford to Welwyn Garden City service.
Routes were selected by Hertfordshire County Council in response to the County’s Intalink Enhanced Partnership public consultation.
Commenting, Sir Oliver Heald MP said, “Local Bus Services are a vital part of the local community and it is fantastic that areas within the constituency will be benefiting from enhanced services. This action is fulfilling the Conservative commitment to levelling up across the country whilst tackling Climate Change, to which Local Public Transport is a key tool in doing so.”
