North East Herts MP Oliver Heald met staff and students of Knights Templar School at Westminster. The party then went round the Palace of Westminster on a tour with official guides arranged by Oliver. Afterwards Oliver showed them the ultra-modern Portcullis House with its atrium and modern committee rooms designed for TV, before ending with a Question and Answer Session with the students. Questions ranged from how the new coalition government was getting on to whether Oliver had met David Cameron and Nick Clegg (he has a lot). There were also questions about the Speaker and current affairs more generally.
Commenting Oliver said:
""I was pleased that Knights Templar School arranged this event as part of their citizenship programme. They enjoyed the tour and had some great questions. They also found the contrast between the old and new buildings interesting.""
The photos by Ben Creasey show the group with Oliver at the North Entrance to Westminster Great Hall and during their Question and Answer Session at Portcullis House.
