North East Herts MP Oliver Heald attended the unveiling of the trophy post awarded to Ashwell for its designation as Hertfordshire Village of the Year 2010 and to Cottered as Village of the Year East.
“I was delighted to hear the news that Ashwell had not only won Village of the North, but was also voted Hertfordshire Village of the Year and the celebrations matched up to the achievement. The ceremony was very well attended with a lunch made from Ashwell food. It was very impressive that all the ingredients came from the Village. I congratulate all those involved in this magnificent success.”
Later that afternoon, Oliver attended the ceremony to mark the victory of Cottered in the competition for Village of the Year East and was present for the unveiling of the trophy. Commenting Oliver said, “The contest for the winner of the East is always hard-fought and it was excellent news that Cottered had triumphed. I would like to pay tribute to the enthusiastic group who enabled this victory to take place.”
