North East Hertfordshire MP Oliver Heald is supporting the East and North Hertfordshire Trust, which runs the Lister, QEII and Hertford County Hospitals, in their call for members of the public to volunteer to be part of the Trust’s Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) assessments. The assessments will involve spending a day at one of the Hospitals to give an opinion on how well the Trust performs against national standards. The PEAT assessment team consists mainly of a range of professional hospital staff, but the views of members of the general public are especially valuable.
Commenting Oliver Heald said “I welcome this initiative by the East and North Hertfordshire Trust as I am sure there are many members of the public who would be willing to give a day to be involved in improving our local hospitals. It is particularly important that assessments of wards, outpatient clinics, accident and emergency and public areas are carried out from the perspective of patients and relatives. I know from my postbag that there are areas where the public feel the Trust might be able to make improvements for the benefit of patients and I would encourage local residents to take this opportunity to be part of the process.
