North East Herts MP, Oliver Heald, has written to Hertfordshire County Council voicing his concern about the dangers for pedestrians and cyclists crossing Royston’s A505 by-pass.
Responding to Oliver’s letter Dan Hancock Strategy and Programme Manager for North Herts and Stevenage at Herts County Council said" It is acknowledged that conditions for cyclists needs to be improved (it features in the Royston Urban Transport Plan document as scheme B5) and officers at Hertfordshire County Council have been speaking to their counterparts at Cambridgeshire County Council with a view to securing the joint funding required for such a scheme to be progressed. The feasibility of a bridge across the A505 will be discussed.
I know that there is County Council Member support for a scheme from both counties and a meeting is to be had on the 16th December to try and determine the best way forward."
Commenting Oliver said: "I am glad that there are going to be discussions about a bridge across the A505. As it is, it is very dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians and it is imperative that it is made safer for them as soon as possible."
