North East Herts MP Oliver Heald dropped in on Saturday to meet members of the community group who have taken over and re-opened Tewin Stores and Post Office. The store was threatened with permanent closure. The community group has more than 100 members. They have re-equipped the shop to be light and spacious and are selling a wide range of produce. The feel is like a Farm Shop. It re-opened last week.
Oliver is a strong supporter of village shops and post offices and supports their retention as essential pillars of village life. Oliver held his regular surgery in Tewin on Saturday and then visited the shop. The photograph shows Oliver Heald, Cllr Michael McMullen and Eleanor Lohr (right) with other shoppers and customers.
Commenting Oliver said:""It is great news for Tewin that the store has re-opened. I wish the group well and will pop in whenever I am passing. The stores is vital to the village and I am delighted it has been saved.""
