North East Hertfordshire MP, Oliver Heald, was guest of honour at the Exhibition organised by Herts at War in The Arcade, Letchworth, on Saturday. The Exhibition featured models dressed in the Hertfordshire Regiment uniforms from the Great War and some of the equipment and weaponry used, including a Lee Enfield rifle and a Maxim machine gun. There were also details of Herts Regiment members who went to war and also conscientious objectors. There were medals and other documents also being shown. The event was held to mark the launch of the Herts at War website on http://www.hertsatwar.co.uk/ . Commenting Oliver Heald said:
"I congratulate local historian Dan Hill on an excellent event and the launch of the website. I was also very impressed with the facsimile copies of the local newspaper prepared by the Comet. I am sure Letchworth people and others across North Herts will find the Herts at War project as exciting as I do."
