North East Herts MP Oliver Heald joined carers for a coffee morning at the Mercure Letchworth Hall Hotel last week to celebrate National Carers’ Week. Oliver was able to talk to carers and those they care for and to hear of the support and help they give to their loved ones.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “It is inspiring to meet carers and to learn how much they do for family and friends, often quietly and without the knowledge of others. I was pleased to support National Carers’ Week by meeting members of Crossroads Care North Hertfordshire and I am grateful to John Lewis Distribution for sponsoring the event.”
Sheelagh Taylor, Chief Executive of Crossroads Care, said, “Unpaid family Carers have a champion in Oliver Heald MP in pledging his strong support for Carers who have an often unrecognised but massively important role in looking after someone who is ill, frail or disabled. We at Crossroads Care offer practical and emotional support to help carers in their caring role and having Oliver’s backing at a local and national level is just wonderful”.
