North East Herts MP Oliver Heald visited Arbury Banks in Ashwell with English Heritage recently.
Arbury Banks is a horseshoe-shaped hill Fort constructed during the Bronze Age about 600 B.C. and forms one of a band of hill Forts across the Northern Chilterns, which includes the Fort at Wilbury and one at Hexton.
Ashwell Parish Council had contacted Oliver because the Council was keen to see improvements to the site. Oliver took this up with Deborah Priddy at English Heritage. The ownership of Arbury Banks has recently changed and English Heritage are now in contact with the new owner and are attempting to reach agreement on how to improve the site.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “It is good to know that some progress is now being made with English Heritage. I am grateful to the Parish Council for its support to try to improve the condition of this monument.”
