North East Herts MP Oliver Heald visited St Mary’s School in Baldock on Sunday to see the 4-yearly show put on by the Icknield Quilters. They are a group of patchworkers and quilters formed in 1992 by Stephanie Pettengell. The quilters meet every 2nd Monday evening of the month in Baldock and have a variety of activities including sewing evenings, speakers and demonstrations.
Commenting Oliver Heald said :
“I went to the last show 4 years ago and this year’s exhibition was just as impressive. As well as the technical ability on display, the imagination and artistic talent involved in the quilts was wonderful. I was pleased to see work on display by old friends such as Margaret Leach, Nancy Ginn and my mother-in-law, Muriel Whittle. As well as the joy these quilts give to visitors, the Group is raising money for local charities including the Garden House Hospice”
