North East Herts MP Oliver Heald has welcomed Fairview Homes’ decision to withdraw its plans for development adjacent to Burns Road, Royston and rethink their approach. This follows representations from local residents including Jayne Bratton of the North Royston Action Group, who has been at the forefront of the campaign. Jayne and Oliver met Fairview Executives this week. The developer has now decided to rework its proposals and submit new plans for the sites next to Thackeray Close and Coombelands, which they promise will take account of residents’ objections and concerns. Fairview have decided not to continue with plans for the area near Betjeman Close at the moment, but to take a longer look at what may be appropriate.
Commenting Oliver said:
“I am pleased at this step forward for local residents. I met Fairview Planning Director Steve Mellor and Project Manager John Baines and they were able to tell me of their wish to respond to residents’ concerns. The points Jayne Bratton made during our meeting were constructive criticisms and Fairview are prepared to take her points on board. I am sure this will lead to better plans, which will ensure that any development is more sensitive. I look forward to hearing residents’ reaction to the new plans when they are available.”
