North East Herts MP Oliver Heald has welcomed the announcement of an increased number of seats on First Capital Connect services from Moorgate and Kings Cross. The agreement with the Department for Transport will involve an extra 3,800 seats connecting with Moorgate and an extra 2,750 seats connecting with Kings Cross. The effect of this will be to give additional services to Hertford North in the evening and to allow the lengthening of a number of train services to Kings Cross.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “I am continuing to press for more capacity on our line and am pleased that some extra seating has been achieved with new rolling stock. The next battle is to have the infrastructure works done, so that we can have twelve car services on our line. The lengthening of Royston and Letchworth Garden City Station platforms and the additional power supply upgrades are obviously vital. I will continue to press government and transport authorities on this important matter, which so affects the lives of commuters.”
