North East Herts MP Oliver Heald has had a high level meeting with Anne Walker, Chief Executive of the Primary Care Trust.
At the meeting, Oliver raised his concerns about the future of Royston Hospital which is currently threatened by a review into intermediate care beds. Oliver made the point that there are far more intermediate care beds in the West of the County than in the North: 187 as against 127.
Oliver also raised the issue of the decline in the number of Health Visitors in the North of the County, down by 17 in the past 3 years.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said ""It was good to have an opportunity to press the case for improved provision at Royston Hospital and to argue strongly against any proposals for closure. The review continues and I will keep putting pressure on the PCT on both these issues.”
