Oliver Heald MP for North East Hertfordshire is encouraging more local businesses within his constituency to take on apprentices. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has introduced a number of reforms to make it easier and cheaper for companies to run apprenticeship schemes, details about which can be found on www.gov.uk. According to figures released recently the total number of places employing apprentices in North East Hertfordshire for 2012/2013 has risen to 350, in comparison to 290 for the previous year.
Commenting Oliver Heald said “It is good news that there has been a greater number of apprenticeships year on year within the constituency. They are essential for those embarking upon a profession in a skilled trade for the first time. I hope that local firms will take note of the Government’s latest measures to help with the rollout of such programmes and offer more apprenticeships as a consequence.”
