Oliver Heald MP for North East Hertfordshire has welcomed the further fall in the number of unemployed people in his constituency. Office for National Statistics figures for April 2014 show the number of unemployed claimants in April was 953. This represents a rate of 2.0% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 490th highest of the 650 UK constituencies. The number of claimants is 481 lower than in April 2013 and 29 lower than in March 2014. (1st = highest rate of unemployment, 650th = lowest rate of unemployment.)
Commenting Mr Heald said “I am delighted that the reduction in the number of constituents claiming JSA is continuing on a downward trend. This shows that the uplift in the economy is building momentum which is good news for all of us”.
