North East Hertfordshire MP Oliver Heald was one of the guests of honour at Reed First School’s 100th birthday party on Saturday. Also there was former pupil and Liberal Democrat MEP Catherine Bearder. Everyone was welcomed by the Headteacher Mrs Harvey. Oliver praised the school, its staff, governors, pupils and parents and was delighted that so many former staff and their families had been able to attend, including members of Mrs Banner’s family. She was Headteacher when Oliver first moved to Royston in the 1980s.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said “This was a great day and I would like to wish the school a happy 100th birthday. It was interesting to look through the old archives which included stories of when I have opened various buildings and visited the school over the years.”
