North-East Hertfordshire MP, Sir Oliver Heald, recently attended a seminar and presentation given by Solveway Ltd, a major provider of apprenticeships in the IT sector. The presentation was held at Barnwell School, in Stevenage, where the provider is based. During the course of the morning, he had the chance to talk to apprentices and to hear of the opportunities that they have been given to make a living in the IT sector. During this meeting, Sir Oliver was also able to hear about the benefits which the apprentices are bringing to the businesses concerned with their IT skills, energy and enthusiasm. Sir Oliver also met Mark Burchett from Gem Estate Management Ltd, based at the Devonshire Business Centre in Letchworth (photographed with Sir Oliver).
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “I was delighted to have the opportunity of this presentation and was impressed by the range of companies and the opportunities that they were offering to apprentices in our area. There was a lot of enthusiasm both from the companies and the apprentices, and I’m sure that this is one of the ways in which skills shortages will be resolved. I wish all the apprentices and companies well and it was good to meet Mark Burchett of Gem Estate Management in my own constituency.”
