Sir Oliver Heald, MP for North East Hertfordshire, has welcomed the fall in the number of Jobseekers' Allowance claimants in the North East Hertfordshire constituency for October 2014 bringing the number down to 731, which is just 1.5% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64. The number of claimants is 404 lower than in October 2013 and 35 lower than in September 2014. (These data are not seasonally adjusted).
Sir Oliver commented “I am very pleased to hear about the reduction in the number of unemployed in the constituency for October. In comparison to the figure for this time last year, this month’s figures are a huge improvement. The Government’s long-term economic plan is clearly working. Our area is one of the best in the country for growth and jobs, because we have such a great workforce and dynamic businesses.”
