MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, has welcomed figures showing that the Government’s Help to Buy scheme is helping families to achieve their dream of buying their own home. In total, 81 people have been able to access an affordable mortgage and get on the housing ladder in North East Hertfordshire. Across the UK, Help to Buy has helped over 73,000 families buy their own home, with over 80% of sales going to first-time buyers.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “The Gordon Brown Crash brought chaos to the housing market, and put buying a first home beyond the reach of many hardworking people. The Government’s Help to Buy scheme is helping people across the country buy their first home, meaning that more and more families able to achieve their dream of home ownership, and enjoy the security and peace of mind that comes with that. The scheme is working, but Labour want to cut it. Britain cannot take this risk.”
