Sir Oliver Heald, MP for North East Herts, has welcomed the news that primary schools across his constituency are currently receiving a £465,120 funding boost to transform PE lessons for tens of thousands of pupils.
Headteachers have already used the PE and Sports Premium – a fund worth more than £150 million a year to spend on school sports provision - to recruit hundreds of extra specialist PE teachers, buy new equipment, and offer a wider selection of sports and free after school clubs.
Sir Oliver said: “I am very pleased to hear about this injection of funding for primary schools in my constituency. Our area is one those leading the way on school sport. Physical Education is an extremely important part of the syllabus and ensures that children receive a balanced education.”
