MP for North East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, has welcomed North East Hertfordshire’s unemployment figures for September 2015, which have been released by the Office for National Statistics.
The total number of Jobseeker's Allowance claimants in the North East Hertfordshire constituency in September 2015 was 667. This is 99 lower than in September 2014, and 664 lower than in September 2010. This represents a fall of 50% in the claimant count over the past five years.
Nationally, the employment rate is now at its highest point on record at 73.6%, and average wages have risen by 3% over the last year.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “This is good news for our economy. The effects of the Government’s sound financial management mean that more people than ever have the security of having a job, and the 3% wage growth at a time of low inflation is reducing the pressure on household budgets. I look forward to more good news in the months and years to come.”
