North East Herts MP Oliver Heald has visited Cambridge Crown Court and held discussions with His Honour Judge Hawkesworth and His Honour Judge Haworth.
A number of cases from North East Hertfordshire are now being heard at Cambridge Crown Court because of pressure on courts in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “I have previously visited the Crown Court in St Albans and I thought it was right to visit Cambridge Crown Court to see what the arrangements there are, particularly those for witnesses, as North East Hertfordshire cases are now being heard at Cambridge. I was very impressed with the witness services at Cambridge Crown Court and it was also good to be able to discuss a range of legal issues with the resident Judge, His Honour Judge Hawkesworth and his colleague His Honour Judge Haworth. I believe that this is an excellent modern court centre and obviously very efficiently run. It was also good to meet a number of key staff from HM Courts Service.”
