NE Herts MP Oliver Heald has responded to the Department For Transport InterCity East Coast Franchise consultation.
A number of constituents have contacted Oliver to complain about proposed cuts in services between Stevenage and the North which are proposed to come into force in May 2011. For example, most express trains serving Stevenage will run to Leeds and there will be few, if any, direct services from Stevenage to Newark, York, Darlington, Newcastle or Scotland.
Commenting, Oliver Heald said, “I have immediately taken up these concerns and would urge other concerned constituents to reply to the consultation by logging on to http://www.dft.gov.uk/consultations/open/2010-08/
“It is vital that North East Hertfordshire does not have its links with the North reduced in this way.”
