MP for North-East Hertfordshire, Sir Oliver Heald, has urged households in North East Herts who are eligible for help from energy companies to seek guidance on keeping their homes warm this winter. Homes that may qualify include low income pensioners, disadvantaged families with children, or those with a disability who live in a rural area.
The Home Heat Helpline is an independent helpline which has helped over 350,000 people since its launch in 2005. Last year, over 77,000 people called the Helpline.
It is funded by Britain’s major energy suppliers and supported by a range of support organisations including Age UK, Citizens Advice, National Energy Action, Energy Saving Trust, and Gingerbread. They offer advice on energy efficiency and switching suppliers, as well as eligibility for financial support from individual energy suppliers, the Warm Home Discount, and insulation and heating system upgrades that people may be entitled to.
Commenting, Sir Oliver said, “I would encourage my constituents to contact the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 to see if they’re eligible for help.”
